What is Mindful Awareness and its benefits?

Mindful Awareness is about sustaining a moment-by-moment awareness of our thoughts, feelings, bodily sensations, and the surrounding environment. This is achieved by paying attention to whatever is occurring in the present moment in a non-judgemental and compassionate way. Not trying to add or take anything away, just experiencing whatever is happening, be it good or not so good. It is impossible to remain mindful 24/7, so we need to learn skills that allow us to keep returning to the here and now. This course will give you those skills. Each week you will learn new mindful skills to add to your mindful awareness toolboxes, such as helping you deal with strong emotions, pain, forgiveness, thoughts, and much more. You will also learn mindful meditations and short practices that you can use anywhere, anytime. Some of the benefits of mindful awareness are:

The Course Outline

Establishing a Mindful Awareness Daily Practice

This session introduces you to what mindful awareness is, how it works and its benefits. You will learn how to establish a daily Breathing Awareness practice. It will also familiarise you with the pleasure of mindful eating.

Learning to Let Your Thoughts Go

The Triangle of Awareness has three parts, and in this session, you will learn about your thoughts. Thoughts can lead us into great discoveries but can also take us down negative pathways. This session explains the power of thought and how you can mindfully let them go. It also explains mindful communication and teaches you the importance of a daily reflective practice.

Facing Your Emotions

The second part of the Triangle of Awareness covers emotions. You will learn how to acknowledge, accept and help yourself through your troubling emotions. You will also discover the science behind your brain and how mindful awareness can help you take back control of your brain.

Engaging with Our Bodies

The third part of the Triangle of Awareness covers our bodies. We spend so much time in our heads these days we tend to forget about our bodies. This session will put you back in touch with your body. It will also introduce you to Reacting versus Responding and how we can mindfully manage pain.

Cultivating Compassion

This session shows us how to cultivate compassion for ourselves and others. When we think of compassion we tend to think of others, but self-compassion is essential if we want to have compassion for others. You will learn how to foster self-compassion and then how we can use that compassion for the wellbeing of others.

Coping with Anxiety

Stress, worry, tension and anxiety cause us a lot of problems these days. In this session, you will learn how to cope with them by doing various Mindful awareness practices. You will be trained in how to acknowledge that you have this moment of anxiety, how to accept, and then investigate the cause so you can find a way to help yourself through it. You will also learn calming self-talk.

How to Find Forgiveness

People tend to see forgiveness as a weakness, but it is actually a strength. You will learn that forgiveness is for you and not for the person who wronged you. You will be taught a mindful awareness practice to help forgive yourself and others. You will also have an opportunity to look back over the course.
